Dallas Race for the Cure!

Always looking for an excuse to see my friend, Jocelyn, we signed up for the race for the cure in Dallas.  Besides supporting a great cause, I knew it would be fun.   I was super excited to drive up and see her; we always have a great time together!

I was also going to meet up with some old friends from middle school.... we hadn't seen each other in TWENTY years!  YIKES!  Would we even recognize each other?  Thank goodness for cell phones, or we never would have found each other!
Jocelyn and I line up for the 5K... we were pretty sure we were going to walk, so we got a little dolled up!
We met up with Christine, her daughter, Leslie and Shelly.  Christine, Shelly and I were cheerleaders together in the 7th and 8th grades at Fairway Middle School in Killeen, TX.  Our dads were all stationed at Fort Hood.  Now, I am an Air Force Spouse, Christine lives with her family in Durham, NC, and Shelly lives just outside Dallas with her hubby.
There were THOUSANDS of people there!
A photo finish... hahahaha!  We all walked our feet.... but we sure ran our mouths the whole time!
The 5K started and ended at a big shopping mall... we were happy to go inside and pose for one more picture before lunch!

What a gift facebook has been for all of us!  It has been great to reconnect with so many people from the past.  Middle school was definatley a ROUGH time for me and my family, but it is funny how time can filter through all of the heartache and leave you with all the fun times to hang onto.  I feel blesed to be back in touch with such sweet girls, and hope we can see each other again before ANOTHER 20 years passes!
