This is the first year Mallory has had a DEFINITE opinion on what she wanted to be for Halloween. Back in July, Grandma Texas bought her the animated "Alice in Wonderland" movie, and it became our most often-played DVD practically overnight! She loved everything about wonderland (except the Queen, of course), so when Halloween Costume catalogs started arriving in the mail, Mallory let us know, with AUTHORITY: "I be ALICE for Halloween, please?"
Grandma and I looked and looked for just the perfect one. The one we found was one of the least expensive, but most adorable- peticoat and all! We were going to be spending Halloween with Charles' family in North Carolina, so Grandma, Grandma and Mommy decided to get some pictures of Mallory in her new costume a few weeks early.
The San Antonio Botanical Gardens provided the perfect magical setting for our adventure. So, on a crisp, fall day, we set off to wonderland!
The gardens were decorated for Halloween with hundreds of pumpkins- Malllory was too excited to hold still at first...
There were so many gorgeous flower bacdrops all around us....
One of my favorite photos..... getting lost in her magical world...
Stopping dutifully for Mommy.... too precious!
More pumpkins around...
Couldn't resist picking one up!
Finally the perfect setting for our perfect picture!
Our litte Alice in Wonderland
She was sooooo good and let us take picture after picture!
Then, she started looking for.... what else? The Cheshire Cat!
"Where is he, Mommy?"
Looking for the Cheshire Cat.....
Tip-toeing so she doesn't scare him....
By chance, there was a display of a GIANT table and chair! What a great setting for our Alice!
How will she get all the way up there?
Smiling for the camera..... SHOCKER!
We wanted her to stand under this waterfall, but she couldn't give in to ALL of our requests, right? Grandpa took her place for this pretty picture!
And.... another picture with the chair! It was actually pretty hot outside, so Mallory was grateful for some rest in the shade!
Holding her dress to cross the bridge... totally HER idea!
"La-la-la... hmmm-hmmm-hmmm..." Just singing her way through the garden!
And, one more picture!
At the end of our adventure, we took a break with Grandma and Grandpa and "let our hair down".
A sweaty Mallory and a sweet Grandma!
Grandma and Grandpa with Alice! Look how Grandpa's shirt matches!
Taking a break with her Grandpa.
....and sharing a snack with him, too!
Can you see Alice hiding from the Queen after "painting her roses red"?
This day was SUCH a memory made!
