San Antonio has this little Kiddie Park near Ft. Sam on Broadway. People drive by it every day, and if you blink, you might miss it! It has been in the city for years (over 50, I think) and was on the brink of closing when two young families got together and decided to revive it for their own children. They had such fond memories of going there as children, and wanted to keep the tradition alive.
We are SO GLAD they did! Talk about the perfect activity for a three-year old's attention span! Grandma, Grandpa and Mommy took Mallory on a breezy fall morning after running some errands. There was hardly anyone there, and NO lines for the rides! In fact, there was one operator to every 3 rides, and if you wanted to go on something, they just walked over and let you on! Mallory was the only rider on several rides, but for $10.00, you could ride all you want that day, so we just followed her lead, and let her have at it!!
First, she went on the horse and buggy ride. The joy on her face was truly priceless!
Then, she went on the boat ride- they go around and around on a track, but water fills the channel, so Mallory thought that was just too cool!
And then, they had airplanes! Mallory chose this pink one- check out the gun on the front! Wouldn't her Daddy be proud?! She's like a little fighter pilot!
They even had a mini Ferris Wheel for kids! I wasn't sure if Mallory would like it or not.... they assured me if any child gets scared on ANY ride, they stop the ride immediately so the child can get off.
The operator of this ride was so helpful , and added Mallory to the car that had two little 5-year old girls in it, so she wouldn't be alone. I don't know why I was even worried- she LOVED it!Here she is.... going up!
Isn't it so cute?
Then, she just HAD to ride this School Bus!
Mind you, all of these rides are just feet from each other, with a few picnic tables and trees in the middle for parents to sit at. We stayed at the same table as Mallory went from ride to ride, and we could see everything!
Mallory LOVES the idea of driving one day! Here she is on the fire truck!
And, of course- what park would be complete without a carousel? Mommy went on the carousel with Mallory, and we actually went TWICE! The hour we spent there was one of the best times we have had since being in San Antonio! Mommy, Mallory Grandma & Grandpa couldn't stop smiling! We definitely will be back for another visit, soon!
