To summarize...
Charles is on a year-long remote to South Korea. He left in April- on Mallory's 3rd birthday. He will be back sometime next April. We anticipated trying to see each other every 3 months during the year. On a fluke, I suggested we meet in Hawaii..... and Charles jumped at the chance to plan a great family vacation for all of us! So, on July 26, Mallory and I packed our bags and headed West!
It was a 3-hour flight from San Antonio to Los Angeles, and Mallory was a very good girl on the whole flight. We had 1.5 hours in LA, then boarded the 5-hour flight for Honolulu.
After being in the air for 1 hour, Mallory fell sound asleep....
...she slept all the way to Hawaii!
(She woke up during the landing and got a little airsick, but nothing too bad!)
ALOHA, DADDY!!!!!!!
We arrived at 7pm Honolulu time- so it was midnight to us, and only 2pm to Daddy!
We all had ALOT of body clock adjusting to do!
I made these cheesy shirts for me and Mallory to wear to greet Daddy.... and he greeted us with fresh flower leis!
My shirt said "Aloha Hubby" and Mallory's said "Aloha Daddy"! In this picture, we are delirious and sleep-deprived!
... Mallory crashed out in her room, no problem!
She slept all night, and was ready to hit the beach in the morning!
All Mallory had been talking about all week was making sandcastles with Daddy, so as soon as we got to the beach that is EXACTLY what they did!
The beaches in Hawaii are just gorgeous! The first one we visited was in Waikiki.
Mallory was so happy to be with her Daddy again! There was NO adjustment needed. From the moment the three of us were together again, we were a family.
Mallory couldn't get over that I was LETTING her play in the "dirt"!!
After the beach, we drove down to Hanauma Bay. Just gorgeous.
So happy to be together again!
Mallory couldn't stop giggling when Daddy held her!
We also drove by the Halona Blowhole.
Mallory and Daddy played chase...........
.... and there are no words to express the joy she exuded when her DADDY caught her!
I know it doesn't take much to make me cry, but I so got teary reading this post! It's just so touching to see yall together again as a family and to see you so healthy & beautiful. big hugs to you my friend!
