Hawaii Day 3- Part One

I tell you what... Mallory could never get enough of the beach.... and neither could we!  You could be standing chest-deep in the water, and see straight through the crystal-clear water to your feet on the ocean floor.  We visited the beach just about every day.  Charles and I took turns watching Mallory on the shore and taking swims out in the gorgeous water.  Mallory enjoyed being in the water, but she much preferred playing in the sand!
Ready to hit the beach, bright and early!

Mallory was not scared of the ocean AT ALL.... causing much stress for her Mommy at first.  She would stand on the shore, facing the waves like a linebacker, and when she saw a big one approaching, she would RUN INTO it, hoping it would knock her down!  Then she would laugh and laugh as she rolled in with the tide!  She made literally HUNDREDS of trips down to the water to fill her bucket or watering pail as she worked on her castle of the day.

Today we went up to the North Shore to Waimea Beach.
Charles took this picture- but doesn't it look like a postcard?
Assembling her tools for construction......
Mallory and her Daddy working on yet ANOTHER castle.....
Charles had a specific technique I had never seen before.  He focused on his work....(look at his mouth...)
...and like father, like daughter... Mallory holds her mouth JUST LIKE HIS when she is focusing on something!  It is too fascinating!  I really see more and more of Charles in her every day!
They made a giant mound of sand, and dug a big "mote" around it.  Then, they used Charles' special technique to add towers.
I stayed out of the construction for the most part and lounged in the sand..... here are my sandy feet!
Wow!  That's one big pile of sand!  I never got a picture of the finished product....oops!
Salt water + sweat + sunblock = one hair hot mess!
