Baby Love

It's hard to believe that Chrissy and Jeff have been parents for over 3 months now!  Since becoming parents to sweet baby Roy,  they have endured showing their SF apartment to potential buyers, temporarily shacking up with friends, his folks and her mom, accepted new positions out in North Carolina, getting settled in a temporary apartment while they continue to house hunt and made the move from San Francisco albeit with a dog and cat in tow!  No telling HOW they managed to do all of that, except with the support of their families and friends!

And WHAT a family the Kistlers are!  When I got pregnant with Mallory, I got a very excited call from Charles' youngest Aunt- mother to the youngest cousin in Charles generation.  Mallory was to be the first Kistler of this generation, and I was told of the Kistler bassinet.  Every Kistler bottom since Charles' father has been in this blessed bassinet.  That makes nine babies total; Charles' father and his 3 siblings, and then Charles, his sister and their 3 cousins.  Aunt Dell generously shipped out the adorable bassinet, which was in immaculate condition, and we dolled it all up for Mallory (in PINK, of course).

OK- Mallory is totally in the bassinet!  You just can't see her!

Here is a close-up of the detail...

And a photo of the inside (where you can actually SEE Mallory) and before I added the trim and detail...
...she was such a little peanut!

It was so nice to have this rolling bassinet when people came to visit.  A nice comfy place for Mallory that was sturdy AND fashionable!  Not to mention super-cute for photo ops!  When I heard Chrissy was expecting, I knew it was my responsibility to pass along this cherished family heirloom.    With all she had going on, getting the bassinet ready was surely NOT at the top of her to do list, and it was an honor to help her with it!

Chrissy showed us this picture she had for Roy's bedroom, and I decided that Black, Red and White would be a great color theme to go along with the painting.

My mother helped make the red florets on the inside joints.  She also handmade the awesome pillow!

I adhered red ric rac to some plain cream bumpers for added whimsy.  The red "sheet" is actually a plush and soft changing pad cover!  It fit perfectly!

And I had to add a monogrammed pillow for that personal touch... I hope that Roy enjoys everything as much as I enjoyed getting it all together!

I also made Roy's birth announcements, which some of you received, no doubt.  Again, such an honor to be able to help in welcoming this sweet little baby into our family.  I can't wait to meet him in person in just a few months!

Paper crafting is truly one of my greatest passions- isn't Roy such a cutie-patootie?

So.... the Kistler Bassinet tradition continues... we'll have to wait and see who needs it next!
