A Day Fit For A Princess!

Mallory had QUITE the adventure a few weeks ago...

As you now know, we are into the dress-up and make-believe phase right now.  Mallory has many different princess dresses, and takes on a different persona with each one.  She is quite the little actress (Can't imagine WHERE she gets that from!)  She assigns us all different characters from the movie, and expects us all to play along, under HER direction.  We are working on toning down the bossiness- it can be a little much, sometimes!

I need to point out that the night before we took these pictures, her Alice in Wonderland costume was the choice of the evening, and she was running from the White Rabbit....(read that, running from MOMMY who was trying to get her to take a bath...) and was singing the "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date" song, when she looked over her shoulder to see how close I was, and didn't look where she was going..... WHAM!  Wipeout on the side of Mommy's metal bed frame.  Ouch!  The bruise looks pretty terrible- and it WAS!  She had this bruise for about 1 1/2 weeks solid- I can't imagine what the teachers at school must have thought!

But the next day, she decided Princess Aurora was a better fit for her, and set off to her very favorite place to play- Grandma and Grandpa's bathroom with the HUGE full-length mirrors, and delightful tile floors and high ceiling that allow the taps of her princess shoes to bounce off the walls.
Mallory even dressed up her bear like Princess Aurora- we couldn't get her to smile for the camera, of course.  Just trust me- she was having a great time!
Princess Aurora pricked her finger on the spinning wheel (the faucet) and fell asleep.
Here she is waiting for Prince Phillip.
Mommy ALWAYS has to play the prince.  I can't wait for Daddy to get home!
Pucker up, Sleeping Beauty!  You are about to get "true love's kiss!"
And.... she is awake!  Thank goodness, because our sweet neighbors had quite the surprise in store for her!
Larry and Charlotte are the sweetest neighbors my parents have had since moving into their house 12 years ago.  This is the 3rd set of neighbors, and they are simply delightful!  Larry has an old car that her keeps in tip-top condition.  He invited Mallory to have a ride around the block!
Mallory liked the idea of being driven around in a chariot!
Grandma and Grandpa hopped in the backseat, and Larry let me ride up front with him!
While riding around the block, Mallory waved to the people working in their yards, and laughed and laughed!
Mr Larry even let Mallory sit i the front seat and honk the horn!  It was LOUD..... she liked that part ALOT!!!!
And after a fun trip, Grandpa walked the princess back home.... but the fun wasn't over yet!
Another one of Mallory's obsessions lately has been the Nutcracker.  We checked out a cartoon version of the movie from the library (her choice) with Keifer Sutherland as the voice of the Nutcracker Prince.  I tell you she watched that movie every day the week we had it checked out!

Grandma had stopped by Tuesday Morning, and saw they had a big Nutcracker on display for Christmas already!  She decided Mallory need to go and meet him in person- princess dress and all.
Mallory was thrilled to see the nutcracker, and gave him a big kiss!
Grandma even bought Mallory her own small nutcracker to keep- she plays with him a lot- in fact, she has already broken his arm off- just like Clara does in the movie.  We repaired it as best we could.......to her, it made it all the more authentic!

I just love my little girl's imagination!
