Sweet Moment.....

Mallory and I got to go visit precious friends today.  Jennifer, her son, Trevor , who is about the same age as Mallory, and sweet Baby Lauren.  Mallory had no issue with me holding little Lauren today, which was a nice change.  I got to rock her to sleep, and enjoy her precious baby noises.  On the way home, we started to talk about how much fun we had, and how much Mallory loved seeing baby Lauren.

This evening....just a few minutes ago, actually, Mallory and I were snugging on my bed watching some TV.  She leaned into my tummy, and I couldn't believe what was in store.....

Mallory (M): Mommy....?  You have a baby in your tummy?

Me (A):  No, sweetie.

(great.... even my DAUGHTER is noticing I have  a bigger tummy than usual)

(M): Why you don't have a baby?

(A): Well, we need to pray to God that we get blessed with a baby.

(Mallory is quiet and thinking for a bit)

(M): OK.  Hello...?  God?  Please give my Mommy a baby in her tummy.  Please God?  Please?  A baby, okay?  Mommy likes a baby in her tummy, and me to!  Thanks.  Amen.

(A):  That's very nice, sweetie.  We need to pray every day, okay?

(I am desperately trying not to cry, btw)

(M): (again, after being quiet for a bit...)  MOMMY!!!  You feel that?  God put TWO babies in your tummy!  One brother and one sister!  TWO babies!  See?  Girl right here (pointing), and boy right here(again, pointing)!  He hear me, Mommy!?  TWO babies!!!

(A): (not sure really if there IS a right thing to say here....)  Well, Mallory.... we have to wait for your Daddy to come home to have a baby in my tummy.

(M):  But why we have to wait for Daddy?  He not God.

(Wow- such big questions!)

(A):  God gave you a Mommy AND a Daddy.  Don't you think he would want your baby brother or sister to have a Mommy AND a Daddy, too?  We have to wait, and keep praying for a brother or sister.

(M):  Okay.  Well... I still want both.  We pray again later.

There are just no words to describe the emotion.  Now, God has not only laid on MY heart the desire to have more children.... he is working through Mallory, too!  Please keep us all in your prayers as we hope to grow our little family very soon....

  1. Amber,
What a precious conversation! I LOVE how God works in our children and touches their little hearts and minds with thoughts like these. I will definitely be praying for your family to keep growing. :) And I think you had a really good answer for why you had to wait for Daddy to come home, by the way!
    Much love,
    Colleen
